The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

Youth without Limits

The International School of Madagascar is honoured to be an Award Centre of the DofE International Award joining 1 million participants in over 130 countries.

The DofE continues to evolve over subsequent decades and in 1980 the age range was extended so that any young person aged 14 to 24 could take part. At this time, DofE programmes took on their current four section format of: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition, with an additional Residential section at Gold level. Popularity has continued to grow, with over 130 countries and territories now offering DofE programmes as part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation. - https://www.dofe.org/about/our-story/

The International School of Madagascar is the first School in Madagascar to have experienced the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program journey. 31 Bronze award participants over the age of 14 were involved in the International Award Program in 2024-2025. As part of the core principle of the Award, the students have learned self-confidence, resilience, time management, community awareness and independence . Along with the Adventurous Journey section, which took place in Mandraka for 2 days, the students learned about planning, connection with nature, problem-solving and leadership. This holistic International Award Program aims to have young people world-ready throughout the 4 different sections (Skills, Sport, Community Service and Adventurous Journey), not forgetting their well-being. This year, the school will have its first Silver participants and even more bronze participants. It is sure, the adventure continues.
